Junior Senator of Kentucky (and son of Ron) Rand Paul recently endorsed Mitt Romney for President even though his father is still trying to earn delegates for the Republican National Convention.
But that’s not the real news, when asked about the possibility of being selected as Romney’s Vice President, Rand Paul had this to say:
A year, year and a half ago, I was a physician in a small town,” Paul, the junior Republican senator from Kentucky, told CNN’s Don Lemon. “And it would be a great honor to be considered as a vice president for the Republican Party. I think that would be something that anybody who said otherwise would not be being truthful.
Rand Paul has been lightly discussed as a long-shot VP selection but he is definitely laying the groundwork to take up his father’s cause and run for President in 2016 (or 2020). Paul being selected would limit the chances of a Paulite crusade on the nomination floor but I don’t see it happening.
I wonder if Ron Paul’s supporters will go after Rand for this decision though.
