Just read this on my Twitter page so I thought I’d tag it on here if anyone is watching.
The Weekly Standard is reporting that:
the Romney campaign has begun to prepare a vigorous effort in support of Paul Ryan if he is selected as Mitt Romney’s vice presidential pick—something now likely to happen soon. For example, GOP officials tell THE WEEKLY STANDARD that Wisconsin governor Scott Walker is among a group of Republicans who has been asked to be ready, in terms of his schedule and other practical preparations, to make the case publicly for a Romney-Ryan ticket as early as Saturday.
Now it doesn’t mean that Ryan is the eventual pick, I’m sure that the possibility exists that this may be a red herring. But it’s late on a Friday night, and if they are set to announce on Saturday morning/afternoon, now would be the perfect time for things to start leaking out.
Keep your eyes pealed, this could be the big story of the weekend.
Update: Some are wondering, why during the Olympics especially when it’s winding down? My best guess is that the last two weeks have been awful for Romney given the gaffes in London/Poland as well as the Reid tax story continues to have surprising legs. So by announcing Paul Ryan, Mitt is guaranteed to have more control of the news cycle for the next few days and TV coverage will be focused on Ryan’s first campaign stops as Mitt’s running mate as opposed to analyzing Mitt’s taxes.
Then Romney can get convention preview coverage afterwards and the following week, he gets the job reports. Seems interesting, no?
